Investigating the Retrofit of RC Frames Using TADAS Yielding Dampers

TADAS dampers are a type of passive structural control system used in the seismic design or retrofitting structures. These types designed so that they would yield before main components structure during earthquake. This dissipates large portion earthquake’s energy and reduces dissipation demand structure. Considering its suitable performance, this damper has been subject numerous studies. However, there still ambiguities regarding effect number these on reinforced concrete (RC) frames their procedure. In study, single-story, single-bay RC frame with scale 1:3, equipped damper, was subjected to hysteresis loading until drift 4%. Then, for further assessment, 48 calibrated numerical models were constructed ABAQUS effects column axial force upon stiffness, strength, ductility accurately investigated. Also, formulations presented calculate how stiffness lateral strength retrofitted affected by an increase plates. The results showed if shear capacity is three times initial frame, have best response. addition, columns exceeds 0.2 Pcr factor drastically decrease.
